Product of Govt. aided School, but does it matter?

I started my work life in an MNC, Tier 1 IT service provider. I worked with clients directly since I was able to understand and speak their 'accent'. My second employer is an Italian bank where both my Indian and Italian colleagues praised my spoken, never mind that I almost always fail to communicate. It is funny that I picked up the accent from American sitcoms and cartoons and didn't undergo any sort of training.  I can hear you say "stop this nonsense bragging blog", I will after I manage to sell you the idea 'schooling is important, but schools or education boards are not'.  But why now? why not 2011? when I got the job and the girl? Probably that is the highest point in my life why was not be boastful then! why now? - Again I'm not boasting I'm only trying to convince myself and you, of course. This idea had its inception long back, 2007 was my first year of college I was considered to have a fairly high standard of communication skill in c...

The rolling potato and limbs

It has been an year and a month. There was a lot of confusion round that time, everyone wanted a piece to be name it after them and I was too curious to know if the nose would remain squashed or if would fluff out and be bit pointy as mine, nothing really mattered for me. Days started to roll, then weeks, then months; now when we look back and it had been quite tiresome and sleepless. Wonder if Moods would give me a cut of profit if I had made 'a second a day' video till date and made it into a campaign. Practially my niece was brought up in our home all the crawling and oogly woogly moves was not new to me, maybe that's why it excites my wife too often that she gets irritated that I don't. But the way this guy moves around with stretched arms is way too amusing! Carries his mom smile, an awkward open mouth but without teeth now it looks even more funny on this face. His preferences are pretty straight. High speed fan, one or two blankets based on weather, hates di...

Untouchability is just around the corner

Growing in the brotherly arms of Chennai hardly exposed me to the darker side of caste system, occasionally when we visit our threaded friends dad would remind me to have the drink served without the cup touching lips. Before you could confuse community and caste, community is the categorization of caste to make them fall under 4 broad categories so government can help with quotas. Quota discussion is for another day. Guess what people still managed to find a way to categorize single community into sub-divided once taking various aspects into account, caste being the first. Lets time travel a week back now ask me "What is the difference between your caste and your wife's?", my reply "not much, traditions are pretty much same, sometimes I feel they wrap themselves with too much of rituals and fails in cleanliness, while ours have leisured on both and so no one bothers to judge. They sort of wear two threads, one along hip and other across body/torso while we are c...

The CAESAR

First sight frightens most, big creepy eyes, kinda weird skin color, strong built. Anyone who comes to my home can’t dare step in unless he accepts them else its gonna be a freak show! Very short tempered yet kind and loving if you are ready to take that one step close to him which either break into complete chaos or builds new relationship. He was very ferocious when I was the only one to raise him till the age of 5 but then my sister took care he became kinda soft, loving idiot playful fool! Now a days he is addicted to scratch, sometimes shows his mighty teeth to make sure you don’t take your hands of his head or sometimes sweet as “cat’s purr”. He’ll turn 11 this September many sweet moments to count on :)  Combai  is his breed is not pure though; Combai are ancient breed they are bear hounds used for hunting. Interesting superior in power and intellligence than most talked Indian breed Rajapalayam you can read more about this on  Combai-wiki . He is ...

Up and Close with Sudalai Madan: Warm up

Hollywood is just a movie industry for most people, but for some like me, it is the inspiration and life guide. I have watched many movies from all genres - action, thriller, comedy, drama, romance, but what I loved is a controversial subjects.  Mikael Håfström's 1408 was in my mind, when I travelled down south to my native for the holy annual festival, 'Sudalaimada Swamy Kodai'. I always keep track of what I do at what time when I'm away from home in my diary. I caught this habit after maintaining the track diary when we make the pilgrimage to Sabarimala every year. Back view of our Sudalaimada Swamy temple I travelled with Athai and Chitapa to Thirunelveli by train; festival takes place at summer, to keep his elder sister comfortable my uncle booked an AC room near Nellai railway junction we stopped by dropped luggage and refreshed. I was happy he was there, someone who can guess what will be running in my mind. We reached Kumarapuram after going to Udhayathur so...

Good to know about Ancestry

Probably I would have been in shorts and ungodly shirt when I last visited my native, 12 years back. All these years it has been don't worry about native years, because I'm in great confusion on which is my native 😅 So how can I relate this place to me? My Grandfather Palaniappa Pillai's hometown. My  Father's Paternal Grandfather,  Mr.Chokalingam Pillai  got settled into Kumarapuram a village next to T isaiyanvilai, Thirunelveli. We were the affluent family from upper-caste Saiva Pillai, so we received a lot of respect, the family is referred to as 'Kanapillai kudumbam' and our home is referred to as 'Panna veedu'. More like 90's Tamil movies when elders from my family cross the street people used to remove slippers and keep their towel in the armpit or they tie it around the hip. It didn't last long just two generations,✌  a victory for equality! Even now the respect has not come down but idiotic 'remove chappal' rituals are skippe...

Its time to take care

Its being 21 years since birth, my parents would ask this question when I can hardly hear them talk " Have you taken all the prescribed tablets?" I would say "yes, you gave me I had them all". With this they will not stop their care "Have this multi-vitamin tablet, this will make you healthy!!, our neighbor suggested this". Like me everyone reading might went through Multidec syrup or tablet, Calcium Sandoz, or some other thing. My friend used to have this golden yellow tablet which stinks likes rotten fish if broken, he used to call that as "meen matharai" if you are like my friend check your muscles because he is quite a giant now :) I'm turning 22 this June and I'm Man now. Its time for me to give back as I said in article one. It time for me to give back what they showed "CARE". Its a virtual torture, imagine you finding it difficult to sleep with headache finally you forget to look at the clock and close your eyes you...
