Read this before you plan your trip to JAIPUR

 1. Uber/Ola is costlier than normal auto/car. Eg. Bani Park to Jaipur stn - ₹50 in an electric rickshaw, Ola - ₹100. So see Ola or Uber then negotiate for a good deal. 2. For shuttling between the Hotel and attractions inside the city use Battery battery-powered auto (which I will call a buggy, like a golf cart), which costs less than a Cab or even a normal auto. 3. Going inside Hawa Mahal is underwhelming, I didn't go, if you decide to go anyway first go to Rajvesh Textile , from there you can see that Hawa Mahal is a kind of permanent facade not exactly Mahal. 4. I'd revisit Amber Palace instead of Jaipur City Palace. 5. Club Amber Palace, Nahargarh Fort, and Jaigarh Fort together (1 day). If you have half a day then only Amber Palace. Pick a car, you have to climb hills so I will not recommend an auto. 6. Jal Mahal is a photo point, boating closed almost 20 years ago as per the cab driver I hired. Try to be there by sunset, breezy - you might have to give up the music show ...

My time in Italy: Dinner

I was ecstatic!, the day started, as usual, toast as breakfast, leftover as lunch, and vending machine coffee; in a couple of days we were going to return to India and so it was time for us to shop souvenirs and chocolates. But what excited me most was the restaurants, and for the noblest reason - food. Gli Orsi is the mall of Biella; there are spots in town like Via Italia, and the complex housing Esselunga, then there is also a Saturday market - where we can go and buy many different things in one place, but malls always offer a different experience. Gli Ori has exclusive outlets for chocolates, shoes, electronics, bags, and more, but we usually buy chocolates from Coop, a supermarket similar to Esselunga but offers more discounts. My first dining experience in Italy was at a place that doesn't serve Italian food but western food. I'm from India, Italy is my west 😄but to Italians - America is west, I understood this as soon as we spotted the restaurant. The place was decorat...

My time in Italy : Aperitivo

There is a tradition in Itay that I found out trying to meet a girl, ok, don't get any ideas. She is pretty I don't deny, but she friendzoned our entire group as soon as we met, no we didn't hit on her, that's how she introduced herself. "Enough of girl" I hear you say, but she introduced me to this awesome thing and how can I not write about the background? We shared the same workplace and that was the reason she came forward and spoke to us on our journey towards Florence, our chatty train journey stopped at Milan and we went our separate ways.  About three months pass and I go to Biella again (possibly for last time, thanks COVID). I have no reason to contact her, but if you are working for the same employer in a small town, chances are you cross paths, and we did so during the last week of my stay. She was unhappy that I didn't let her know I am in town, anyway invited me to a party scheduled for Friday night. But my flight was already scheduled to lea...

My time in Italy : Lunch

Lunch is considered the biggest/proper meal of the day in Italy, as I have already mentioned , a cup of coffee and a bun is all you get as breakfast in Italy (However, this is stereotypical and mythical as I have mentioned in the same write-up, I'm going to still use the myth to boost my biggest meal theory). Most of my Italian colleagues preferred to eat outside, this makes me believe that Italians has a strong culture of eating lunch outside. So many restaurants in such a small town of Biella adds substance to my theory.  We have a small canteen and also on/off lunch only food truck inside our office, in-spite of this there are 6 restaurants within walking distance from our entrance, serving Japanese sushi, Mexican empanadas, Substandard grab and go pizza. And my favourite La Locanda (fondly known to us as Thatha Kadai )- the pasta land that I love  ðŸ˜‹  and the old man's warm welcome will be with me for life. These are mostly for people who walk or use pu...

My time in Italy : Breakfast

Breakfast is the first meal of the day and it will help you power through the day, don't skip it. Or at least that is what is widely told and believed, and now I realize this is a very strange way to open, yet I did and I'm going to carry on with it. If I have not made myself clear yet, I have been to Italy and I tried to learn their lifestyle and this is my documentation. Spread across three years, I spent a total of 3 months there, enough time to know enough but not all, and it is worth mentioning that I spent all my time in North Italy, after all, I didn't go there for vacation; since my office is headquartered in Piedmont region I stayed there and spent above 95% time there. Oh, I forgot about breakfast! During my first time my manager took me out for breakfast and it was a cup of coffee and brioche. What is brioche you ask, it is a croissant, sometimes bigger, sometimes flavoured, sometimes stuffed; but yeah that is what all you get in the morning, not once I saw ...

Unmaking of tortilla with corn flour

I'm on my cooking spree, it has been bread & jam or noodles for too long. Now that I have grown a taste for cheese I bought a lot of cheese and started googling recipes that includes cheese. I started out with cheese sauce for nachos, I liked nachos more than sauce cause I didn't get it right the first time. In nachos I found a good evening snack, so moved into salsa or mayo or even thick salad dressing as I found it easier to arrange than cook. Inevitably I came back to stove when I wanted to eat pasta after having mouth watering conversations with Dewang . I wanted to make pasta with sauce or cheese of my choice also privilege of eating pasta in India is mostly reserved for those people who works in corporate and goes out for casual dinner and lunch were they don't need to pay bill. Cooking at home gives me the opportunity to introduce such cuisine to my parents. I started cooking pasta and sauce, once I made the cheese sauce curdy and the other day I forgot to...

20 ways to use tummy to good effect

Be Big Be Happy Dear Readers, The post will have series of situation where you can use your tummy for good effect. I going to motivate you BIG time!  Caution: This might motivate you to become fat and unhealthy. ( But who cares as long as you are happy?!) Famine killer: I know, we all know famine is killer but statistics point that tummy is essentially extra fat that gets deposited so that it can be used in unforeseen situations where you don’t have food to eat. Famine is the first situation that comes to my mind! All your slim, lean friends will die of starvation while you can sit in a place reduce metabolism use all stored fat to cross bad days and wait for WHO/UN to arrive. The same can be said when you run outta money. Easy to demonstrate common sense: Lift etiquette – Leave way for people inside to come out else you can’t go into lift. This lift etiquette is so straight but so uncommon, so take pride in standing in the entrance and refuse to come out till they mak...

Dominos Cold Pizza served with the worst customer care and service

It was a real good weekend, had a good mid-day sleep and woke up to order pizza as my cousins were visiting. As you might know my favorite pizzeria is Pizza hut, but since my cousin insisted and more importantly my better half was craving for choco lava cake I had to order it in Dominos(since pizza corner is already a tragedy ). The mood of weekend started to fall down with the time taken to deliver the pizza. I placed the order by 7:45pm, I didn't have any other work so I kept refreshing the page after placing order to see the progress in pizza tracker. Progressed from Ordered > Prepared > Baked > Packed > Dispatched in 27mins wow that's great now I'm going to get the pizza in 10-15mins. No that didn't happen I had to make 5 calls to Pizzeria station - 044 2238 7777 out of which first two answered, third one was mis-handled saying we'll deliver time might differ (that's interesting) and the next two were  severed  soon after I said "my order...

Pizza corner: Tragedy

As a part of ‘Life after marriage’ ritual we went to movie this weeked ‘Raja Rani’ nice movie, lite & simple. Carrying on the good mood we decided to have dinner outside midway to home, later decided to go to any pizzeria to have some lite snack. Found Pizza corner in 100ft road, Velacherry, we jumped in and order coke, salad, pizza and asked them to serve in that order. Restaurant was close to empty and India innings was closing to defeat, I hung my head down, felt some heat... its my dear wife who is not happy that I’m giving cricket match enough importance to spoil the evening *OoO* girls will they ever learn? Ah! the salad came, its not becoz its healthy or green but recently I have developed a particular interest with salad so pardoned for bring it ahead of coke. I saw the salad *fail* there was no green nor corn neither cheese, olive as specified in the description of dish I double checked, the bowl was full of pasta just pasta which is hated most by her *second ...

What we can eat at food fest when there is really no food

Just a week ago we had a food fest at my organization. On the same day my team had an important work to do which got us late to food fest. Since we were late we made it further late by utilizing some more time to find where/ whether to eat but we have already bought the tokens so we have to eat. Straight we went inside the cafeteria to find the stalls overflowing with Crowd!! (wonder what) yes I work in a corporate and never bother to call my colleagues as crowd. Neither there was queue to get nor there was a exit to help yourself bring your plate full. The best way is to eat it there and push others to get out and yes its no brainer its just plain truth. At last we managed to the front row of counter(row!! yes if there is no queue then its got to be row!!). The most awaited surprise was waiting there it will be good  if I give the typical conversation. Me: Anna! Dhahi Kachori! 2 here are the token Server1: Onnu thaan iruku(Translation: Just a p...
